Melissa Ben-Ishay is the Co-Founder and CEO of Baked by Melissa, the New York-based dessert brand famous for its handcrafted bite-size cupcakes and treats. Founded in 2008, the brand now operates 14 retail locations in the NYC area, ships nationwide, and has sold over 350 million cupcakes. In 2020 Melissa gained popularity on TikTok with videos of her salads and everyday meals.   • What is The JWE?
    The JWE believes that Jewish women can and should have the tools to create the lives they love. The JWE provides women the resources and connections they need to achieve their personal and professional goals.
  • Why should I attend?
    The JWE business conference is an unrivaled opportunity to network and learn from leading Jewish women, at the top of every industry. The conference will feature a keynote speaker, Melissa Ben-Ishay, who will share about her own story of building a brand as a Jewish woman. We will host workshops, panels, and industry-focused roundtables throughout the day. The conference will be an opportunity to learn and also meet working Jewish women from across the country. By attending, you should gain referrals, new ideas, and importantly, a community to inspire you and propel you forward in your career.   • What is The JWE Conference program?
    The 2024 conference will take place on Monday, June 3rd, and will be a full day of learning, networking, and skill-building. The day will begin with a light breakfast and a keynote speaker, followed by breakout sessions including: how to pitch, creating your investor deck, addressing burnout, pricing, and so much more. Panel topics include: scaling, delegation, hiring, and more! There will also be opportunities for structured networking, pitch feedback from real investors, and more. The main conference will end at 5:30 pm and all JWE Members are invited to attend a members-only dinner on June 3rd after the conference. JWE Gold Members are also invited to a VIP Power Hour event with Melissa Ben-Ishay, sponsored by Roth&Co.

  • I've attended JWE events before; how do I know if I am a JWE Member?
    JWE chapters were launched in January 2022. There are currently chapters in Chicago, South Florida, and The Tri-State, as well as non-local membership for those who do not live in those areas. If you joined as a city chapter member since January 2022, and are currently an active member, you can register using the discounted, members-only rate which was emailed to you.   • Nursing Room
    We will provide a separate room for nursing babies or pumping. Please note that The JWE cannot provide babysitting for the event, but you are welcome to bring your own babysitter who can use the separate designated space. Unfortunately, babies are not allowed in workshop spaces.
  • How can I get more involved?

  • How is my conference experience different as a JWE Member?
    JWE Members are invited to an exclusive dinner and evening event after the conference on Monday, June 3rd, with other VIPs and the conference speakers at no extra cost. Additionally, JWE Members will receive members-only recognition, have first priority at workshops, and receive a 20% discount off of conference tickets. JWE Gold Members are invited to a VIP networking with Melissa Ben-Ishay.
  • Who is the caterer and what is the hashgacha of the food?
    The caterer is BCH Catering and is under Chof K with a secondary hashgacha from Tarnopol. All dairy is cholov yisrael and there will be a mashgiach on premises. With the exception of the Baked by Melissa cupcakes which are OK-D and Pareve. There will be appropriate signage directing anything that is not CY.
